1300 Scouts from Bromley gathered for a weekend of adventure and celebration as four special anniversaries were celebrated in style.

A Big District Celebration

Bromley District is one of the largest scouting districts in the Country with 3,343 youth members. Over the weekend, 1300 Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and Leaders united to celebrate 15 years as a district, 5 years of Squirrels, 40 years of Beavers, 110 years of Cub Scouting.

Bromley Scouts marked the special anniversary with a 'Birthday Bash' camp over the weekend, at Downe campsite. The Bromley Scouts Youth Events Team along with the support of the Friends of Downe activity Centre came together to create a fun filled weekend for all who attended.

Activities and Time Capsule

Scouts enjoyed everything from Archery to the Zip wire, crafts, giant inflatable assault course and an epic silent disco.

Part of the celebrations included reopening a time capsule that was buried at Wilberforce Scout Campsite to mark 100 years for Cub Scouts in Bromley District. The capsule was dug up for this event and cubs were given the opportunity to peruse the content and add to it before it goes back into the ground for the next generation to discover in 40 years time.

Scout Voices

Skylar, aged 10, from the 5th Bromley Group, said

The camp was great because I got to run around on a huge site with old friends and new friends. The activities were amazing! I loved the laser tag the most. I even went to a silent disco staying up super late past my bedtime without my parents knowing. This is why I love being a Scout!
